Mary Alice Garrett, of Elk Horn, the daughter of the late Herman and Elizabeth (Simpson) Fisher, was born January 18, 1951 in Marion County and departed this life on Saturday, July 4, 2026 in Lexington at the Bluegrass Hospice Healthcare. She was 75 years of age.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, spending time with her grandkids and was proud of having read the Bible completely twelve times and working with her husband in tobacco.
Survivors include: three children: Nancy Lee Tungate and her companion Doug Warren of Campbellsville, Curtis Garrett and his wife Lisa of Merrimac, and Amanda Tucker and her husband Justin of Knifley.
Eight grandchildren: Hope Garrett, Cody Garrett (Renee Corbin), Brittany Tungate (Chris Compton), Kelsey Garrett (Austin Harris), Bridget Tungate, Johnny Murphy, Garrett Tucker, and Emily Garrett, and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is two brothers and a sister: Melvin Fisher (Melissa), Ethel Smothers (Charles) and Daniel Fisher; special sister-in-law: Julie Fisher; special niece: Jessica Fisher and special friend: Stephanie Wise.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Curtis “Buddy” Garrett on March 1, 2026, a great-grandchild Addison Bray and three brothers: William, David and Lonnie Fisher.
Funeral Service: 1 PM Thursday, July 9, 2026 at L.R. Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Old Liberty Cemetery.
Bro. Mark Harrison will officiate.
Visitation: Wednesday, 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
