T.J. Regional Health Announces 2024 Scholarship Recipients

Three local high school seniors who plan to pursue careers in healthcare will receive scholarships from T.J. Regional Health to assist with their college expenses. The T.J. Educational Scholarship Program targets high school seniors in the organization’s service area across south central Kentucky.

“Offering college scholarships is just one way that we invest in our communities, attract talented individuals to the healthcare field, and contribute to the long-term success of the industry,” said Neil Thornbury, CEO of T.J. Regional Health. “Assisting our future workforce with their college expenses is a win-win for everyone.”

The three students chosen to receive $2,000 in scholarship money in 2024 are:

Anna Grace Blythe, a senior at Metcalfe County High School who plans to attend Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY to study nursing. Anna Grace currently serves as a Certified Nursing Assistant at T.J. Health Columbia. After graduation, Anna Grace intends to further her education by obtaining a master’s degree and becoming a nurse practitioner.

Kensey Johnson, a senior at Glasgow High School plans to attend Western Kentucky University this fall to study exercise science with the ultimate goal of becoming a physical therapist. Diagnosed with a rare bone disease at a young age, Kensey saw first-hand the positive impact T.J. Samson’s physical therapy team had on their patients and knew that was what she wanted to do with her life.

Alexandrea Barbour is a senior at Hart County High School and will be attending the Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY this fall to study Nursing. The loss of Alexandrea’s infant sister, and the compassion shown to her family by the NICU nurses during their time of need, inspired her to work toward a career as a NICU Nurse.

Congratulations to each of these deserving students.
