On Monday, February 16, 2026, the Adair County Sheriff’s Office worked an accident at the intersection on Burkesville Road and Hughes Road.
Brandon Hunt, age 42, of Columbia, was operating a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox and attempted to make a left turn from Burkesville Road onto Hughes Road and turned into the path of a 1990 Peterbilt Semi, being driven by David Nelson, age 38, of Tennessee.
After colliding with the Equinox, the Semi left the roadway and came to rest in the left side ditch.
Hunt was taken by private vehicle to seek medical treatment for possible injuries.
The accident is being investigated by Sheriff Gary Roy, who was assisted on scene by Adair County Emergency Management and the State Highway Road Department.
