Scotty Lane Cocanougher Clenney

Scotty Lane Cocanougher Clenney, age 83 of Barren River Lake, Scottsville, Kentucky (also formerly of Greensburg, KY) passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025 in the care of her son and daughter-in-law in White House, TN.


A native of Washington County, KY she was born on August 29, 1941 to the late William “Bill” and Ruby Christerson Cocanougher.


She was a member of the Scottsville Baptist Church, a 1959 graduate of Springfield High School, a 1964 graduate of Campbellsville College and a 1993 graduate of Western Kentucky University. Scotty was a school teacher having taught both elementary and high school in Boyle, Hardin and Taylor counties as well as a counselor at Taylor County High School. Following her teaching career she served as a counselor for the Department of Human Resources for Kentucky. One of Scotty’s greatest achievements was designing the Seal for Campbellsville College in 1961 that is still used today.


Preceding her in death was a brother, Bruce Cocanougher on July 6, 2022 and a sister, Connie Johnson on February 10, 2012.


Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Ty Clenney; her two sons, Tim Clenney (Laurie) of White House, TN and Thomas Clenney of Nashville; a granddaughter, Kyra Sharp (Christian) of Elizabethtown; three great grandchildren, Logan Sharp, Kasey Sharp and Hunter Sharp and a brother, Stewart Cocanougher (Pat) of Danville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 3rd at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Sherrell, officiating.


Visitation will be after 12 noon Sunday until time of the service at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Springfield.


Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Clenney, Thomas Clenney, Shepherd Smith, Stewart Cocanougher, Christian Sharp and Kyra Sharp.
