Mark Twain Storytelling Festival Planning Continues By City Of Columbia, LWU Arts Administration Program And Adair County Genealogical Society

The City of Columbia in a collaboration with the Arts Administration Program at Lindsey Wilson University and the Adair County Genealogical Center will be presenting the Mark Twain Storytelling Festival in Columbia on June 19 and June 20. 

Local (and area storytellers that will participate are: 

Mike Watson, a historical perspective 

Mary Hamilton, Kentucky Folklore 

Suzanne Bennett, as Jane Todd Crawford

Richard Phelps, as Col William Casey

Darlene Campbell, as Jane Lampton Clements 

Robert Brock, as Mark Twain 

Ray Mendenhall, Humorist, storytellers, musician 

There will be a reception on Friday evening and Saturday will be a day of storytelling (morning and into the afternoon). 

“We encourage visitors to utilize local restaurants and local businesses during their time in Columbia and Adair County,” stated Mayor Hoots. 

Plans are underway to do a mural downtown on South Reed Street pertaining to Mark Twain and his mother, Jane Lampton.
