Joyce Simpson Patterson

Joyce Simpson Patterson of Green County, Kentucky, daughter of the late James Ogden Simpson and Margaret Wooldridge Simpson, was born on Saturday, February 12, 1938 in Green County and departed this life on April 10, 2025 at Green River Trails Nursing Home in Greensburg. She was 87 years, one month, and 29 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She worked as a set sleeve operator for Fruit of the Loom, Inc. and for Green County School System as a school bus driver and in the cafeteria for several years. She dedicated many years as a Foster Parent and helped to raise many children.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Leroy Patterson of Green County, having united in marriage on January 22, 1955.

Other survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Karen Patterson of Louisville, Lea and Bradley Morgan of Greensburg; three sons and daughters-in-law: Kerry and Tammy Patterson, Jeff and Helen Patterson, Chad and Angie Patterson all of Greensburg; one sister: Bernice Janes of Greensburg; 11 grandchildren: CJ Patterson, Derek and Megan Patterson, Tony and Chasity Bagby, Alicia and Darren Waskom, Jason and Amanda Patterson, Jeremy and Ashley Patterson, Joshua and Emily Morgan, Jordan Morgan, Wesley Patterson, Austin and Summer Patterson, Grace Patterson; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of foster children, other relatives, and friends.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers: Dennis Simpson, Stanley Simpson, and her twin brother, Boyce Simpson; one great grandchild: Alyssa Leanne Bagby.

The funeral services for Joyce Simpson Patterson will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Central Time, Monday, April 14, 2025 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in Green County Memory Gardens. Bro. Cliffton Sullivan officiating.

Visitation is requested after 5:00 P.M., Central Time, Sunday, April 13, 2025 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7:00 A.M., Central Time, Monday until time of the funeral service.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund which can be made at the funeral home.
