Glasgow, KY – During the month of March, Jersey Mike’s hosted its annual Month of Giving campaign, where local restaurants give back to the communities they serve through providing an opportunity for patrons to leave a tip for the local charity. The campaign culminates each year with the “Day of Giving” on which 100% of the sales from that location are donated to the charity.
Austin Whetsel, owner and operator of Jersey Mike’s in Bowling Green and Glasgow, was thrilled to announce the success of the local Month of Giving campaign, which raised $20,000 for the T.J. Community Mission Foundation (TJCMF).
“The success of the campaign shouts loud and clear that the people of Glasgow, Bowling Green, and all of southern Kentucky are committed to their communities,” Whetsel said. “I hope this campaign is a springboard to the next chapter in the story of the Foundation and that our ongoing partnership will spread the word that the Foundation is here to help.”
Whetsel went on to say, “I first learned about the T.J. Community Mission Foundation when I met Larry Glass, a good man and the developer of Barren River Plaza where my Jersey Mike’s is located in Glasgow. Larry’s passion for helping people was evident in the way that he spoke about the Foundation and all the good things they were doing.
“My journey to Glasgow with Jersey Mike’s and my subsequent association with the TJCMF has not been a straight path. Like many of the people and families that the Foundation assists, I’ve sought and luckily found the support I needed in the community around me. I would not be here today without that support – my journey would not have brought me to Glasgow at all. It is vital to the health of our communities that safety nets exist and are easily accessible. I am in a fortunate position to be able to help and be involved in a brand that truly believes in the power of doing good for the sake of doing good. Because of that, I felt it only made sense to choose the T.J. Community Mission Foundation as our official charity partner for both the Bowling Green and Glasgow locations. Working with the Foundation has further cemented my belief that I chose the right organization with the best people trying to do the most good.”
The Foundation’s Executive Director, Randy Burns stated, “The T.J. Community Mission Foundation is grateful for its partnership with Jersey Mike’s and is beyond thrilled with the response from customers and the success of the campaign in both the Glasgow and Bowling Green locations. The dollars raised will be used to support existing programs and projects of the TJCMF such as the Shanti Niketan Hospice Home, Community Medical Care, Children’s Day, the Trinity Rehabilitation Center at Samsonville Square, and many more.”
