Homer Bloyd Simpson of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Homer Leslie Simpson and Lillie Florence Bloyd Simpson, was born on Tuesday, September 3, 1935 in Greensburg and departed this life on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Green River Trails Nursing Home. He was 90 years, 1 month, and 20 days of age.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ on October 20, 1964 at 5 P.M., was a member of Mt. Lebanon Methodist Church, and attended Fry Baptist Church. He worked for AmeriGas as a propane dealer for 42 ½ years and worked as a Green County Magistrate for 8 years. He was a member of the Green County Sportsman’s Club, having been an avid, fisherman, trapshooter, and hunter.
He was united in marriage to his first wife: Marilyn Bonta Simpson on August 28, 1954, who preceded him in death on December 11, 2012. He is survived by his wife: Brenda Shirley Simpson of Greensburg, having united in marriage on January 17, 2017.
Other survivors include a grandchild: Shawn Lynn Propes of Greensburg; great-grandchild: Jazlynn Propes of Greensburg; step-children: Angela and Scott Bettens of Campbellsville, Joe and Gaye Moon of North Carolina; step-grandchildren: Faith Bettens, Ashely Moon, Kristoffer Moon; step-great-grandchild: Ethan Moon; a daughter-in-law: Belinda Simpson of Greensburg; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Michael and Marilyn Shirley, Wilburn and Connie Bonta, Suvada Arnett all of Greensburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Besides his parents and former wife, he was also preceded in death by a son: Danny Walton Simpson; a grandchild: Shane Lee Lovins; a grandchild-in-law: Jason Propes; brothers and sisters: Billy Simpson, Vera Tucker, Ogden Simpson, Gearon Simpson, Richard Simpson, Mildred Neagle; a brother-in-law: Winfred Bonta.

The funeral service for Homer Bloyd Simpson will be conducted at 1 P.M., Central Time, Sunday, October 26, 2025 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in Green County Memory Gardens. Bro. Joseph Wilcoxson and Bro. Wilburn Bonta officiating.
Visitation is requested from 4 until 8 P.M., Central Time, Saturday at the funeral home and after 7 A.M., Sunday until time of the service.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund which can be made at the funeral home.
