FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 10, 2025) — In accordance with a proclamation from the White House, today Gov. Andy Beshear directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff until sunset on Sunday, Sept. 14, out of respect for Charles James “Charlie” Kirk, who was fatally shot at a speaking engagement in Utah today.
The Governor also directed that flags be lowered to half-staff on Thursday, Sept. 11, in commemoration of Patriot Day and in honor of those lost in the 9/11 attacks.
Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses and organizations throughout the commonwealth to join in this tribute. Flag status information is available at governor.ky.gov/flag-status.
