Campbellsville Independent’s Melissa Hughes Recipient Of KASA’s 2025 Fred Award

(Frankfort, Ky) The Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA) is proud to announce Melissa “Missy” Hughes of Campbellsville Independent Schools as the 2025 recipient of the prestigious Fred Award. Inspired by Mark Sanborn’s bestselling book The Fred Factor, the award honors school staff members who make a positive impact every day, lead with passion, and transform the ordinary into something extraordinary.

For nearly two decades, Missy Hughes has been the heart of Campbellsville Independent Schools. A proud alumna and longtime school secretary, she is known affectionately as “Mimi” by the students and staff who view her not just as a colleague, but as family. Her deep care for others is visible in every gesture, whether opening her home to a student in crisis or remembering birthdays with a handwritten card. Her faith, compassion, and servant leadership embody the very essence of the Fred Award.

“Missy reminds us that excellence in education isn’t just about policy—it’s about people,” said Dr. Rhonda Caldwell, KASA Chief Executive Officer. “Her quiet, faithful presence has changed lives and strengthened her school community in ways that can’t be measured by test scores or spreadsheets. She shows up with heart, every single day.”

Through her steady presence and unwavering generosity, Hughes has brought Campbellsville Independent’s motto, Changing Lives, to life. Her joyful spirit, deep faith, and genuine love for others have left an imprint on generations of students and staff alike.
