Wise, Neighbors Secure Significant Funding For Monroe County Road Improvements

FRANKFORT, KY (April 25, 2024)—Sen. Max Wise, R-Campbellsville, and Rep. Amy Neighbors, R-Edmonton, have secured millions of dollars supporting local road projects in Monroe County over the next two years.

Included in House Bill (HB) 1, which leverages $2.7 billion from the state’s $3.7 billion budget reserve trust fund to support transformative one-time projects across the commonwealth, was $450 million specifically for the state road plan to boost projects across the state.

Included in the state’s two-year road plan, House Bill (HB) 266, Neighbors and Wise helped secure $5.2 million for planning, designing, obtaining rights-of-way, utility work, and construction of various projects in the county including:

$2.5 million to support the operations of the Turkey Neck Bend Ferry through 2030,

$1.9 million to reconstruct the intersection of KY Highway 63 and Poplar Log Church Road,

$750,000 to replace a bridge on KY Highway 100 between mile points 14.7 and 14.9, and

$40,000 to install guardrail on KY Highway 100 in Monroe County,

House Joint Resolution (HJR) 92 provides $117,000 to support the county’s priority efforts to resurface Leatherwood Road and Persimmon Kesslar Ridge.

Additionally, HJR 91 includes scheduled projects and anticipated needs for the remaining four years of the six-year highway construction plan. Find HJR 91 HERE. Monroe County-specific projects can be found on page 172.
