The Columbia Police Department was dispatched to a local storage facility on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at approximately 3:27 p.m. (CST) in reference to a reported break-in at one of the storage units.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the lock securing the storage unit had been cut. Two male subjects and a vehicle were located on the property.
As a result of the investigation, Donald Routt, 39, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, and Kasei Cox, 42, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, were both arrested at the scene and charged with:
-Burglary, 3rd Degree
-Criminal Mischief, 2nd Degree
Both Routt and Cox were transported to the Adair County Regional Jail.
The investigation and arrests were conducted by Columbia Police Officer Trent Williams, with assistance from Columbia Police Sergeant Jay Wilson.
