The Taylor County Schools and community came together to celebrate the continued success and future of the community pool, highlighting the partnerships and local support that made the project possible.
Taylor County Schools Superintendent Robert Braden emphasized that the facility belongs to the entire community.
“This is a community pool. This happened because of community support,” Braden said.
Braden also expressed his appreciation to those who helped make the project a reality, thanking the Taylor County Board of Education, Taylor County Fiscal Court, Senator Max Wise, Representative Sarge Pollock, and the Taylor County Schools Maintenance Department for their contributions and commitment.
Taylor County Swim Coach Steve Doss spoke about his passion for swimming and the impact the facility will have on the community.
“Thank you for the opportunity to do this. I have a passion for swimming, and being able to serve at this facility is a blessing and an opportunity for our community,” Doss said.
Doss said the new facility offers opportunities unlike anything the community has experienced before.
“The opportunities this is offering us are unlike anything we’ve had before. We’re going to be able to keep this going year-round.”
Looking toward the future, Doss said there are more plans in the works to expand programming and continue building on the facility’s success.
“We don’t know everything that’s in the works yet, but we’re going to keep working to make things happen. I think a lot of what you’ll see going forward will have a long-lasting impact.”
Among the programs already generating excitement is water aerobics, with additional activities expected to be introduced as the facility continues to grow and serve residents of all ages.
