Bardstown Man Arrested After Deputies Discover Marijuana Plants

A Bardstown man was arrested Wednesday evening after Nelson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a man dancing in the roadway and later discovered marijuana plants at a nearby residence.

According to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the area of Stringtown Road at approximately 8:19 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5th, in response to a report of a male subject dancing in the roadway.

Deputies located and made contact with Jonathan Smith of Bardstown at a nearby residence. While speaking with Smith, deputies reported observing several marijuana plants in the yard.

Following an investigation, deputies say they discovered a total of 13 marijuana plants on the property.

Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Nelson County Jail by K-9 Deputy Crady. He is charged with second-degree disorderly conduct, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, cultivating five or more marijuana plants as a second or subsequent offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The investigation remains under the direction of the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.
