Michael Lee Bagby

Michael Lee Bagby, age 78, left this world peacefully on August 9, 2025, at his home in Niceville, Florida.

Michael was born on May 15, 1947, in Green County, Kentucky, the son of Lallie “Doc” Bagby and Annis Lucille Squires, and grew up on the family farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep love for his family. After graduating from Green County High School in 1965, he went on to pursue a career in the United States Air Force, to which he dedicated himself in service to his country for 24 years, including overseas service at the height of the Cold War, completing three remote tours, and retiring highly decorated at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant.

Michael was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Wright on April 15, 1968, who preceded him in death on August 29, 2020, and was a pillar of strength and support for his family. Together, they raised two children: Michelle Lee and Mark Lance. He was a devoted father, always there to offer guidance, love, and support. He cherished his family, friends, and co-workers, and his presence brought warmth and joy to those around him. He was known for his unique sense of humor and caring personality.

He is survived by his loving partner, Marlene Thomas, his daughter Michelle and son-in-law Trent Keltner of Green County, Kentucky, his son Mark and daughter-in-law Mary Wilkinson Bagby of Washington County, Maryland, 8 grandchildren: Ashley (Edward) Bird (Florida), Joshua Keltner (Kentucky) Hannah Bagby (Maryland), Abigail Keltner (Kentucky), Elaine Bagby (Florida), Isabella Bagby (Maryland), Charlotte Bagby, (Maryland), and Harrison Bagby (Maryland), as well as one Great -Grandson, Wells Bird (Florida). He is also survived by his brothers, Bendal (Debbie) Bagby of Green County, Kentucky and Marty Bagby of Taylor County, Kentucky, as well as one niece, one nephew, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A funeral service to celebrate Michael’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Central Time, Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, located in Greensburg, Kentucky. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Green County. 

Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, starting at 9:00 AM and pay their respects.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, Bethlehem Cemetery Fund or a Charity or cause closest to your heart in Michael’s memory.
