Carol A. Marr, loving wife and eternal soul mate of Barry F. Marr, mother of BJ (Traci) and Derek Marr, Gram extraordinaire to Addison, Lucas, Max, Dash, and Rip Marr, went to her eternal home on April 29, 2025. She was 63 years, 8 months, and 7 days of age. She is also survived by her mother, Judy Simpson, and sister, Kristy Davis (Todd), all of Greensburg, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her father, Boyce Simpson. She had made a profession in Christ and was a member of OneSong church in Bowling Green.
She loved watching her sons participate in sports and the same applied with her grandchildren. She loved to travel and served as co-pilot and navigator to her husband, on their numerous adventures. They were blessed to have visited all fifty states. As they were nearing completion of their conquest of the country, they realized that there was one state that she had not been to, Nebraska. Barry and the boys had gone to the College World Series in 2000, and she did not accompany them. Plans were immediately made to resolve this which included her flying to Omaha, taking a taxi to a local hotel, staying the night, and returning home the next day; and that is exactly what she did.
They also visited Canada, Australia, France, Ireland, and Iceland. Many priceless memories were made. One of her favorites included, “driving a manual transmission car on the wrong side of the road” in Ireland.
She one-upped Barry when she recently took a cruise with her close friend, Jennifer. She was able to add Mexico and Belize to her list of destinations.
There have never been two sisters closer than her and Kristy. Their love for each other knows no end.
Among her countless friends, there are four, Paula, Robin, Diane, and Margaret, who were very dear to her. These were her “go to” people when times were tough.
Last, but most certainly not least, there is our village called Carol’s Crusaders; currently numbering more than 900 people from across the country as well as other countries. These people prayed, sent words of encouragement and provided support for us throughout her 5-year battle with illness. Words cannot come close to expressing what these people have and continue to mean to us. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Her service and witness to The Kingdom is evident by the many lives she touched. She served her church in many ways, but none more satisfying than teaching the kiddos in Sunday School. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In her words, she was,” not afraid to die.” Of all her travels and adventures, she has reached her eternal destination; where eye has not seen, and ear has not heard what God has in store for her, and those who love Him.
Heaven’s gain is our loss, but only for a brief time for her Brothers and Sisters in Christ. It is up to us to determine whether we tell Carol, “Good-bye,” or “see you later.” Jesus has done His part. She would want nothing more than for all of us to accept his gift of eternal salvation and be once again reunited.
