Wynemia Bowles Mouser, age 98, passed away at her residence on May 30, 2026.
Born on May 28, 1928, in Center, Kentucky, Mrs. Wynemia was the daughter of the late William Otley Bowles and Leora Huffman Bowles. She dedicated her life to education, earning her college degree and embarking on a distinguished teaching career that spanned 37 years. Throughout those years, she taught at several schools and positively impacted the lives of countless students.
In 2014, Mrs. Wynemia moved from Greensburg, Kentucky, to McKenzie, Tennessee, where she became a faithful member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Her commitment to her faith and community was evident through her many years of service. She served as an Elder in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, was active in the Cumberland Presbyterian Women, and served on the Board of the Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home. She also devoted her time to healthcare service as a member of a hospital auxiliary board in Texas.
Mrs. Wynemia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Nancy Bean and Morris Anderson of McKenzie; her sister: Emogene Greer; her grandsons: Jason Mikel (Suzanne), John Shepard, Steven Shepard, Phillip Shepard, and Wesley Mikel; along with other extended family members and friends who cherished her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Jodie DeSpain and Calvin W. Mouser; and her sister, Verenda Roberts.
Wynemia’s life was marked by her devotion to her family, her faith, her students, and her church. Her legacy of service, kindness, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

The funeral service for Wynemia Bowles Mouser will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., on Friday, June 5, 2026, at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McKenzie, Tennessee.
Visitation is requested after 11 A.M., Friday at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church until time of the funeral service.
A second funeral service will be conducted on at 4 P.M., Central Time, Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Greensburg, Kentucky with burial to follow in the Center Cemetery in Metcalfe County, Kentucky.
Visitation is requested after 3:00 P.M., Central Time, Sunday at the church until time of the service.
Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Bethel University Renaissance, which can be made at either funeral home or church service.
