Happy Derby season to all that celebrate!
This Saturday (May 2, 2026) as many of you know will feature the world famous Kentucky Derby, the most exciting two minutes in sports.
However, Columbia’s Russell Creek will host, also this Saturday, the Columbia Duck Derby.
The Duck Derby, which is the most exciting five minutes in Rubber Duck sports, features ducks purchased by individuals racing down Russell Creek to win prizes.
The top finishing ducks will win prizes donated by members of our community with the grand prize being a new Kayak.
The derby will be getting underway at 11:00AM Saturday morning from the City’s McKinney Landing trail town Kayak launch, it will also be streamed live on Facebook.
You can still purchase your ducks, at a cost of $5 each by calling City Hall at 270-384-2501.
